Ihsanullah’s Retirement: Pakistan’s young fast bowler Ihsanullah has withdrawn his decision to retire from franchise cricket within 24 hours of the announcement. The 22-year-old, who initially decided to retire out of frustration after being left out of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 draft, said he decided in an emotional state.
Frustration Leads to Retirement Decision
Ihsanullah performed impressively for Multan Sultans during PSL 8. Taking 22 wickets at an economy rate of 7.59 earned him a place in Pakistan’s T20 squad. However, a serious elbow injury suffered in his debut ODI series against New Zealand kept him sidelined for a long time and ultimately cost him his place in the national team.
The injury and subsequent mismanagement made him controversial, with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) criticized for receiving inadequate medical attention.
Ali Tareen, owner of Multan Sultan, played an important role in assisting Ihsanullah during his rehabilitation, providing financial support. Despite this, Ihsanullah was not sold in the recent PSL draft, leading to his first retirement.

A Determined Comeback Plan
On 14 January, Ihsanullah announced his retirement out of frustration at not being recognized despite his consistent performances. On January 15, he clarified that the decision was taken on impulse.
“I take back my decision. No franchise picked me and many people’s comments put me in trouble. I am going to work hard. PSL is four months away. People who picked me No they will choose me in future. I have no plans to retire,” Ihsanullah told TV channel Geo Super.
Injury Mismanagement Sparks Controversy
The mismanagement of Ihsanullah’s injury has attracted considerable attention. A separate report cited delays in diagnosis, inappropriate treatment plans and hastily planned surgeries by surgeons with insufficient expertise.
These factors have left Ihsanullah with permanent physical limitations, including the inability to fully straighten his arm
