IN-W vs WI-W: The Women’s T20 World Cup will begin on October 3, with all matches taking place in Dubai and Sharjah. This tournament in the UAE will feature 10 teams divided into two groups.
Everyone is eagerly awaiting the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. Warm-up matches have already begun, and today (Sunday), a practice match will be played between IN-W and WI-W. IN-W vs WI-W: IN-W is placed in Group A:
The 10 participating teams are divided into two groups. IN-W is in Group A, along with Australia, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka. Group B features South Africa, England, West Indies, Bangladesh, and Scotland.
High expectations from the Mandhana-Shefali duo:
The Indian team’s opening pair, Smriti Mandhana and Shefali Verma, are in excellent form. Over the past year, they have consistently delivered strong performances. They are expected to shine in this tournament as well. India recently lost the Asia Cup final to Sri Lanka but will look to avoid repeating past mistakes.
All-rounder Deepti Sharma’s key role in UAE:
All-rounder Deepti Sharma has been pivotal for India on several occasions. She is expected to play a crucial role for the team in the UAE. Though her batting stats may not seem remarkable, no other player has performed better in T20 Internationals for India since January 2022. During this period, she has taken 45 wickets and scored 420 runs. Deepti also impressed in the Women’s Hundred League, scoring 212 runs with a strike rate of 132.50 and taking eight wickets at an economy of 6.85.
India’s top spinners:
India’s bowling is spin-dominated, making it difficult for opposing batters. Along with Deepti, pacers Pooja Vastrakar and Renuka Singh, and spinners Radha Yadav and Dayalan Hemalatha will be key bowlers in the World Cup.
Balanced West Indies team:
The West Indies team, led by Hayley Matthews, is well-balanced. Known for their ability to turn the tide in matches, the West Indies boast strong fast bowlers and players like vice-captain Campbell and Deandra Dottin, who strengthen the squad. WI-W won T20 World Cup in 2016 under leadership of Hayley Matthews.
