Following dismissals of Indian openers Rituraj Gaikwad (0) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (21), captain Suryakumar Yadav’s impactful innings, supported by Ishan Kishan’s significant contribution, turned the game in India’s favor.
Kishan’s 58 runs, backed by five sixes and two fours, provided crucial support to Suryakumar’s blitzkrieg. The Indian captain smashed an impressive 80 runs off 42 balls, comprising four sixes and nine fours, before an excellent catch by Aaron Hardy off Jason Behrendorff’s delivery ended his innings.
In the thrilling last over, India needed seven runs to secure victory. Rinku Singh’s boundary on the first ball set the tone, but subsequent dismissals of Akshar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, and a run-out of Arshdeep Singh made the chase precarious.
With one run needed off the final ball, Rinku Singh sealed India’s win with a six. India triumphed by 2 wickets and 1 ball due to a no-ball on the final delivery.
