Kuldeep Yadav Eyes Green Park Test Debut on Home Ground 🏏
After India’s solid 280-run win in Chennai, they’re headed to Kanpur for the second Test against Bangladesh, starting September 27. This time, all eyes are on Kuldeep Yadav—the local hero who’s waiting for his moment to shine at Green Park Stadium.
Although Kuldeep has represented India in ODIs and T20s in his second ‘home ground’ Lucknow, but it is every cricketer’s dream to play a Test match for the country on home ground. Kuldeep played his last Test match this year against England in Dharamsala, where he took a total of seven wickets including five in the first innings.
The Chennai Test match was played on a red soil pitch and due to the pitch helping the fast bowlers, two spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja along with Jaspreet Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj and Akash Deep were fielded as fast bowlers, but the Green Park pitch is suitable for spinners and because of this, the team management can give a chance to Kuldeep in the playing eleven by resting Akash Deep here.
Kuldeep Yadav has proved himself in recent times, but as the third spinner, he will be competing with Akshar Patel who also bats. But Kuldeep can get an opportunity in the second Test because Green Park is his home ground and secondly, Ravindra Jadeja is already in the team and is a left-handed spin all-rounder like Akshar.
With Green Park expected to assist spinners, the team may rest pacer Akash Deep and bring Kuldeep Yadav in. Although he’ll have some competition from Axar Patel, Kuldeep’s recent form and the home-ground advantage could give him the edge. Plus, former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar is backing him up, saying Kuldeep could’ve added more pressure on Bangladesh, even on a pace-friendly Chennai pitch.
If Kuldeep gets his chance, fans can expect him to weave his magic and make Kanpur proud
