Michael Vaughan on India’s Aggressive Batting
Former England captain Michael Vaughan believes India’s aggressive batting in the first innings against Bangladesh in the second Test reflects England’s “Bazball” cricket. Indian batsmen played aggressive cricket in the first Test. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Rohit Sharma started India’s aggressive play at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur after bowling out Bangladesh for 233 in the second session.
Vaughan wrote on X, “I think the Indian Team is playing Bazball”. He compared India’s attack to England’s Bazball cricket. ‘Bazball’ is the term used for England’s aggressive style of cricket, which became popular when Brendon McCullum took over as red-ball coach in 2022.
India’s Aggressive First Innings
India scored a total of 285 for 9 in 34.4 overs and declared their innings with a lead of 52 runs in the final session of the fourth day. Jaiswal played the most aggressive approach from the Indian Team, who hit a half-century in 31 balls, while Rohit scored 23 runs in 11 balls with the help of three sixes and a four. Jaiswal played an innings of 72 runs in 51 balls with the help of 12 fours and two sixes, helping India to complete their fastest 50 and 100 in 18 and 61 balls respectively.

India’s Determination for a Result
Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, India’s scoring rate did not decline as the Indian batsmen kept the pace moving forward till the loss of the last wicket. Shubman Gill (39), Virat Kohli (47) and KL Rahul also scored runs at a great strike rate.
