Despite a disappointing start in the first innings after winning the toss, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma’s remarkable century, scoring 196 runs off 131 balls, turned the tide. Supported by Ravindra Jadeja (112 runs off 225 balls) and debutant Sarfaraz Khan (62 runs off 66 balls), India posted a total of 445 runs in their first innings. England’s Response and India’s Comeback
Ben Duckett’s impressive innings of 153 runs off 151 balls provided a strong reply for England in their first innings. However, India made a comeback on the third day, bowling out England for 319 runs. Mohammad Siraj took 4 wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja secured 2 wickets each. India gained a substantial lead of 322 runs by the end of the third day, setting the stage for a challenging run chase for England in the fourth innings.
