IND vs ENG 2nd ODI: When Team Indiaβs playing 11 came out for the first ODI match played between India and England in Nagpur, everyone was surprised. Virat Kohliβs name was not in it. It was revealed that Kohli has a knee problem and that is why he is not playing the first match.
Now the second match is to be played in Cuttack on Sunday, February 9. Everyoneβs eyes are on whether Virat will return or not.
Will Virat Kohli Return for the Second ODI Against England?
According to what the BCCI had said during the first ODI, Virat is out of only the first ODI due to a knee problem. His return in the second match is certain. This is good news, but his return will prove to be a headache for captain Rohit Sharma and coach Gautam Gambhir.
When Virat Kohli was out in the first ODI, Shreyas Iyer got a chance. Yashasvi Jaiswal made his debut. Iyer played a match-winning innings and told that he is fully entitled to play in this format. This right-handed batsman scored 59 runs in 36 balls with the help of nine fours and two sixes.
Debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 15 runs off 22 balls. Shubman Gill, who batted at number three in place of Kohli, played an innings of 87 runs.

Who Will Be Left Out?
Kohli has to play in the top order and such a situation, a place has to be made for him. After the way Iyer and Gill batted, it would be unfair to leave them out. Yashasvi also made his debut and it would not be right to leave him out after just one match. However, Rohit and Gambhir can take this step. Gill and Rohit will open again and Kohli will play at number-3.
Leaving Yashasvi out after one match can affect his confidence. Gambhir likes him a lot and wants to play him continuously. This can be understood from Iyerβs statement. After the first ODI, Iyer said that he got information about being included in the playing 11 at night because Kohli was injured. That is, Yashasvi was sure to open and Gill also played because he is the vice-captain.
In such a situation, the team management can once again try the formula that it had tried in the Sydney Test match during the Australia tour. Rohit had dropped himself in that match. Rohitβs form is not good at the moment and hence it should not be surprising if Rohit drops himself in the second ODI.
Will There Be Changes in Bowling?
However, the possibility of this is very low because Rohit needs to play as many matches as possible given the Champions Trophy. In such a situation, Yashasvi is sure to be in trouble. KL Rahul did not do well, but he will certainly play as a wicketkeeper.
There is no possibility of any change in bowling. Mohammed Shamiβs ODI comeback was strong. Harshit Rana also played a big role in breaking the back of England with his sharp bowling. The trio of Ravindra Jadeja, Akshar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav is also confirmed in the playing 11.
IND vs ENG 2nd ODI: Indiaβs probable playing 11:
Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Harshit Rana, Mohammed Shami
