Although Shubman Gill’s innings in the final match was brief, he broke Suryakumar Yadav’s record to become the second-highest run-scorer among Indian captains in a 5-match T20 series. In this series against Zimbabwe, Gill scored a total of 170 runs at an average of 42.50 and a strike rate of 125.93, including 2 half-centuries. This performance placed him behind Virat Kohli, who scored 231 runs in a 5-match T20 series against England in 2021. Suryakumar Yadav had previously held the record with 144 runs as captain in a series against Australia in 2023.

Series Performance and Individual Scores
India started the series on a challenging note, losing the first T20 match by 13 runs with Shubman Gill scoring 31 runs off 29 balls. In the second T20, Gill managed only 2 runs off 4 balls.
