The Indian women’s cricket team defeated England by 16 runs in the third ODI at Lord’s to clean sweep the series 3-0. The Indian team has managed to sweep the ODI series for the first time on England soil. This was the last international match of Indian veteran cricketer Jhulan Goswami. Batting first, India scored 169 runs in 45.4 overs. Chasing the target, the England team could only manage to score 153 runs in 43.4 overs. In this match, Jhulan Goswami took 2 wickets giving 30 runs in 10 overs. After the over, the Indian players congratulated Jhulan and hugged him. Jhulan Goswami, playing the last match, returned to the pavilion without opening an account.

England won the toss and decided to bowl first in this match. Electing to bat first, the Indian team scored 169 runs in 45.4 overs for the loss of all wickets. The start of the Indian team was not good, during the powerplay itself, the team lost 3 wickets. Smriti Mandhana handled India’s faltering innings and scored 50 runs in 79 balls.

Shefali Verma and Yasika Bhatia could not even open the account. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur returned to the pavilion after scoring 5 runs in 9 balls. Deepti Sharma’s half-century took India to a respectable score. Deepti remained unbeaten on 68 off 106 balls.

England’s innings

Emma Lambe injured her hand in the seventh over of the innings. Indian team’s fast bowler Renuka Singh has given the first success to the team. He has got Emma Lamb stumped. Renuka Singh gave another blow to England by dismissing Beaumont in his 5th over. She was dismissed for 8 runs in 21 balls.

Jhulan Goswami took the wicket of Alice Capsi in his last international match as the fifth wicket. The capsi returned to the pavilion after scoring 5 runs.
England batsman Charlie Dean played a powerful inning of 46 runs in 79 balls.
Renuka Singh took 4 wickets among Indian bowlers.


Deepti Sharma ended England’s innings by running out Charlie Dean. In the 44th over, Deepti gave India victory by running out Dean, who was out of the crease.
