India Beats New Zealand by 59 Runs to Take 1-0 Lead in ODI Series

India Leads Series 1-0 After Strong Performance

After the T20 World Cup 2024 tournament, India and New Zealand met for the ODI series. This is New Zealand’s first tour of India after the T20 World Cup. New Zealand defeated India in the series round and entered the semi-finals. Also won the first T20 World Cup title. So the India-New Zealand series is important.

The three-match ODI series is being played between India and New Zealand. Meanwhile, the coin toss was decided in India’s favor and the Indian women’s team decided to bat first. India scored 227 all out in 44.3 overs and set a target of 228 for victory. It seemed that the New Zealand team would easily meet this challenge. But nothing like that happened. Shafali Verma gave an aggressive start from India. She scored 33 runs off 22 balls with 5 fours and 1 six. But captain Smriti Mandhana could not do anything special. She returned to the tent scoring only 5 runs. Yastika Bhatia scored 37 runs.

Dayalan Hemaltha could score only 3 runs. Jemimah Rodrigues scored 35 runs, Tejal Hasbanis, and Deepti Sharma scored 41 runs. After that, the innings rumbled. Arundhati Reddy scored 14, Radha Yadav 3 and Saima Thakor 2nd were dismissed.

Radha Yadav bowled the most impressive for India. He conceded 35 runs in 8.4 overs and took 3 wickets. Saima Thakor took 2 wickets, Deepti Sharma took 1 wicket, and Arundhati Reddy took 1 wicket. Three wickets were run out.
