India Clinches Victory Over Australia in 1st ODI, Secures Top ODI Ranking

In the first match of the three-match ODI series between India and Australia, India defeated Australia by five wickets. The Indian team won the toss and invited Australia to bat first. Australia scored 276 runs after losing all ten wickets in 50 overs.

IND vs AUS 1st ODI:

After losing the toss and coming in to bat first, the Australian team couldn’t make a proper start to their innings. Mitchell Marsh was dismissed by Mohammed Shami in the very first over. There was a partnership of 94 runs in 106 balls for the second wicket between David Warner and Steve Smith. Ravindra Jadeja broke this partnership by getting Warner caught by Shubman Gill.

Warner scored 52 runs in 53 balls during this innings, hitting 6 fours and 2 sixes. Smith contributed 41 runs in 60 balls with the help of 3 fours and a six before being dismissed by Mohammed Shami. Marnus Labuschagne added 39 runs in 49 balls, Cameron Green contributed 31 runs, and Marcus Stoinis added 29 runs to the team’s total.

Josh Inglis managed to score 45 runs in 45 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes. Matthew Short, Shaun Abbott, and Adam Zampa were each out after scoring two runs. Captain Pat Cummins remained unbeaten on 21 runs in nine balls with two fours and a six. Mohammed Shami took a maximum of 5 wickets for India, while Jasprit Bumrah, Ashwin, and Jadeja took one wicket each.

Shubman Gill and KL Rahul Shine as India Defeats Australia by 5 Wickets in Thrilling Encounter

The Indian team, set out to chase the target of 277 runs, had a good start. Shubman and Rituraj together scored 142 runs in 130 balls. Shubman Gill scored his ninth half-century in ODI career, while Rituraj scored his first half-century in ODI career. The Indian team lost its first wicket when Rituraj was dismissed for 71 runs in 77 balls, LBW by Zampa.

After this, the Indian team faced three consecutive setbacks, scoring only nine runs. Shreyas Iyer was run out after scoring three runs, and Zampa clean bowled Shubman, who played an inning of 74 runs in 63 balls with six fours and two sixes. Suryakumar Yadav was out after scoring 50 runs. Captain KL Rahul played an unbeaten inning of 58 runs and secured victory for Team India by hitting a six off Shaun Abbott in the 49th over.

The second ODI of the series will be held on 24th September in Indore, and the third ODI will be held on 27th September in Rajkot. With this series victory, the Indian team has overtaken Pakistan and achieved the top position in the ODI rankings. Team India is now the number one team in all three formats.
