Cricket is one of the most popular and entertaining sports. The Men’s Cricket World Cup will be held in October 2023 where our team will be participating as the host nation. If you are a fan of cricket and the Indian national team itself, you can always use Pin up bet app – creating an account here allows you to affordably and easily bet on our national team in the upcoming most awaited and important event for the entire cricketing world.

Let’s take a look back at the results of our athletes in the past three World Cups’s events. At the beginning of their sporting journey, the Indian team did not perform well, losing most of the matches to stronger teams. But at the moment, our team is considered to be one of the strongest teams, deservedly occupying the first line of the ODI match rankings.

2011 World Championship

The 2011 Championship was the tenth edition of these tournaments. Our team qualified automatically, having the status of a full member of the International Cricket Council. Competitions were held in three countries: India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Group stage:

India was placed in Group B, which included another host team Bangladesh, along with teams from South Africa, England, West Indies, Ireland, and the Netherlands. The top four teams progressed to the quarter-finals.

The competition started with the opening match between India and Bangladesh.

Our team was the first to go into action and quickly built up a lead, thanks to the very successful actions of Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar and of course Virat Kohli. The Bangladesh team tried to put up a fight, and they almost succeeded, but our team was stronger. India won by 370/4 (50 overs) – 283/9 (50 overs), winning by 87 runs.

India vs Bangladesh

The game turned out to be a great one. Both teams fought hard. Let’s not go into details, because this crazy match ended in a tie.

India vs Ireland

In a rather difficult match, our team won by 5 wickets, and our player Yuvraj Singh became the first player to score 50 runs and take 5 wickets in a World Cup match.

The subsequent India-Netherlands match went with more confidence, IND defeated Netherlands effortlessly.

India vs South Africa

Our team started as batters and, having picked up a frantic pace, showed quite a good result, but unfortunately could not keep the lead and lost by 3 wickets. It should be noted that this was the first and last defeat of our team at this World Cup. The next match against West Indies ended with a victory of our team. India progressed further with 9 points in 6 matches.

Quarter-final

In this stage, our national team faced a very formidable opponent – the Australian team. India won by 5 wickets, thus breaking the 12-year hegemony of Australia at the World Cup.

Semi-final: India vs Pakistan

At this stage, we faced the winner of Group A – Pakistan. India opted to bat first. Despite a very solid start by Pakistan, India continued to take wickets and won with a difference of 29 runs.

Final: India vs Sri Lanka

A match that had over 500 million viewers glued to it. The bookmaker singled out the Indian team as the favourite. In a tough match, our team emerged victorious by 6 wickets. It was the first time when the host country became the triumphant.

2015 World Championships

The 11th edition of the championship, which took place in Australia and New Zealand.

Group Stage

Group B

Indian team was seeded along with the teams of: South Africa, Pakistan, West Indies, Ireland, Zimbabwe, and UAE.

Our team won the group without much difficulty by taking 6 games out of 6, scoring a total of 12 points.

Quarter-final: India vs Bangladesh

The bookmaker offered favourable odds on the Indian team as the favourite, and did not fail. India was inimitable and left almost no chance to Bangladesh. A legitimate victory for India.

Semi-final: India vs Australia

In this match, unfortunately, despite a very good game, our national team failed. Losing is always disappointing, but losing to the future winners of the tournament is not so shameful.

At the 2019 World Cup, the Indian team finished 3rd at the 2019 World Cup, losing to New Zealand in the semi-finals.

Some of the biggest achievements of our national team in recent World Cups include:

  • Final 2003 (loss to Australia);
  • Victory 2011 (defeating Sri Lanka in the final by 6 wickets);
  • 3rd place 2015 (defeat to Australia);
  • 3rd place 2019 (defeat to New Zealand).

The next 2023 championship is scheduled for October-November in India. Hopefully, our team will be able to repeat the success of 12 years ago and take the long-awaited trophy on home soil for the second time to offer to its fans.
