The Indian women’s cricket team made history by winning the gold medal in the Asian Games 2023, defeating Sri Lanka women’s by 19 runs in the final match.

In this match against Sri Lanka, the Indian women’s team batted first and scored only 116 runs while losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. However, the Indian bowlers turned the tide of the match with their excellent performance, restricting Sri Lanka to a score of 97 runs in 20 overs.

However, Indian women’s team spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad broke the partnership by dismissing Hasini Perera when the score was at 50. After losing the fourth wicket, the Sri Lankan team struggled to recover.

On the score of 78, De Silva was also bowled by Pooja Vastrakar after scoring 23 runs. Due to the increasing pressure, the Sri Lankan team could only manage to score 97 runs while losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. Sri Lanka faced defeat in this match by 19 runs.
