India Women Secure First Win in T20 World Cup Against Pakistan

Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian women’s team maintained their dominance against Pakistan and registered their first win in the T20 World Cup. Pakistan Women’s team, who batted first, were restricted to 105 runs for 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs by the Indian Women’s team in the match played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Chasing these runs at a fast pace, the Indian women’s team had an opportunity to improve their net run rate. But it appeared that the Indian team played intending to get their first win only. Chasing the runs set by the Pakistan team, the Indian team won by 6 wickets. Arundhati Reddy who broke the back of the Pakistani batsman in bowling became the player of the match.

India’s Dominant Bowling Performance

Pakistan’s batting struggled against India’s disciplined bowling. Arundhati Reddy was the star of the Indian bowling attack, taking key wickets and breaking the back of the Pakistani batting order. The rest of the Indian bowlers also contributed well, keeping Pakistan’s scoring rate low and restricting them to a modest total of 105.

India’s Revised Batting Strategy

Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana opened the innings for the Indian women’s team. With only 18 runs on the scoreboard, the Indian team got its first shock in the form of a memorial. When this wicket fell, it was seen that the Indian team made a big change in the game plan. Jemima Rodrings came to play in place of captain Harampreet Kaur. She shared a partnership of 43 runs with Shafali Verma for the second wicket. Team India got a third shock in the form of Shefali. She contributed 32 runs off 35 balls. The Indian team lost the wickets of Jemima Rodrigues 23(28) and Richa Ghosh 0(1) in quick succession when they were 80 runs on the scoreboard. Pakistani captain Fatima Sana took these wickets.
