Lucknow Super Giants Suffer Setback: David Willey Withdraws
Lucknow Super Giants, the newest addition to the IPL, faced an early setback in the 14th season as they suffered a defeat in their opening match against Rajasthan Royals. This defeat was followed by another blow as one of their key players, Englandโs all-rounder David Willey, withdrew from the squad ahead of their second match against Punjab Kings.
Matt Henry Joins Lucknow Super Giants as Replacement
In response to David Willeyโs unexpected departure citing personal reasons, Lucknow Super Giants swiftly moved to bolster their squad by signing New Zealand fast bowler Matt Henry. Henry, who comes with prior IPL experience having represented Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings in the past, has been brought in as a replacement for Willey. Lucknow secured Henryโs services for a base price of Rs 1 crore 25 lakh, according to IPL press releases.
