IPL 2024: Kolkata Knight Riders End 10-Year Title Drought
Another season of the Indian Premier League was completed. Kolkata Knight Riders ended a 10-year drought by winning the IPL 2024 title. After 2012 and 2014, they won the trophy for the third time. KKR easily beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final. After this title, KKR was awarded 20 crore prize money along with the trophy, while runner-up SRH was awarded 13 crore. A total prize money of 46.5 crores was distributed in this year’s IPL.
IPL 2024 Prize Distribution and Team Performances
Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru finished third and fourth respectively. Sanju Samson’s team was paid Rs 7 crore while RCB was paid Rs 6.5 crore. RCB’s Virat Kohli won the Orange Cap, while Punjab Kings’ Harshal Patel won the Purple Cap… Both were awarded Rs 10 lakh each. Virat scored 741 runs at an average of 61.75 in 15 matches this season. Harshal took 24 wickets in 14 matches.

Several individual awards highlighted the exceptional talents showcased during the IPL 2024 season:

Sunil Narine’s all-round performance, scoring 488 runs at a strike rate of 180.74 and taking 17 wickets, earned him the Most Valuable Player title. Nitish Kumar Reddy of Sunrisers Hyderabad was named the Emerging Player of the Season, while the Fair Play Award went to Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Hyderabad Cricket Association was recognized with the Pitch and Ground Award.
