IPL 2024: KKR Bolsters Bowling Attack with Dushmantha Chamira’s Inclusion
As the IPL 2024 season approaches, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have made a strategic move to enhance their bowling prowess. Sri Lankan pacer Dushmantha Chamira has been signed by KKR as a replacement for Gus Atkinson, adding depth and variety to their bowling lineup. Chamira, known for his pace, swing, and seam movement, is set to partner with Mitchell Starc, who was acquired by KKR in a historic bid at the previous IPL mini-auction.
Chamira, secured by KKR for an original price of Rs 50 lakh, brings his IPL experience from representing Rajasthan Royals in 2018, Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2021, and Lucknow Super Giants in the 2022 season, where he showcased his skills by taking nine wickets in 12 matches.

Mitchell Starc’s Record-breaking Entry and KKR’s Historic Bid
In the last IPL mini-auction, the spotlight was on Mitchell Starc as Kolkata made a historic bid for the Australian left-arm fast bowler. The bidding war involved franchises like Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians, both vying to secure Starc in their squad. Despite strong competition, (KKR) and Gujarat Titans engaged in a high-stakes bidding battle that ultimately saw KKR securing Starc for a whopping 24.75 crores. This made Starc the most expensive player in the history of the IPL. After an eight-year hiatus, Starc is set to make a formidable return to the world’s most popular T20 league, adding a significant boost to KKR’s bowling arsenal for the upcoming season.
