IPL Auction 2nd Day: Today is the second day of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. On the first day, a total of 84 players were bid of which 72 players were sold, while no franchise showed interest in 12 players and they remained unsold.
A total of 577 players were shortlisted for the auction, so now on the second day, bids are to be placed on 493 players.
IPL 2025 Auction: Accelerated Round Explained
In such a situation, the fans are confused that if only 84 players’ names have come in the auction on the first day, then how will the remaining 493 players be bid on the second day?
So let us tell you, on the second day there will be an accelerated auction in which after a fixed number, the teams will be asked to shortlist their favourite players. Then the auction will be held based on the list of players given by the team.

What Is the Accelerated Auction?
The accelerated round is a process to complete this auction quickly. The advantage of this is that the names of all the players will not be taken during the auction in that round. After a certain number, teams will make a list of their favourite players from the remaining players and then bids will be placed on those players.
On Monday, the remaining 85 to 577 players will be presented in the IPL auction list. The process will remain the same as the first day of the auction in Jeddah until the 116th player is presented, after which the accelerated auction will take place.
IPL Auction: How the Accelerated Round Works
The accelerated round is divided into two phases:
- First Phase: Teams will submit their shortlist from the remaining players (117–577). Players on these lists will be bid on in the first accelerated round.
- Second Phase: Unsold players from both the main auction and the first accelerated round will return for bids if teams express renewed interest.
This method ensures that all remaining players have a fair chance while streamlining the process.
