KKR’s New Captain: Venkatesh Iyer, who was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 23.75 crore in the IPL mega auction, said on Sunday that he would be “very happy” to take up the challenge of captaincy and replace Shreyas Iyer.

Kolkata Knight Riders decided not to keep 2024 IPL-winning captain Shreyas Iyer in the mega auction here and went all-out against Royal Challengers Bangalore to acquire Venkatesh and got the third-highest bid of the IPL auction.
Venkatesh has represented the Indian team in nine T20 matches and two One Day Internationals (ODIs). He became the third most expensive player in the IPL mega auction, following Shreyas Iyer, who was purchased by Punjab Kings for Rs 26.75 crore, and Rishabh Pant, who was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore.

Ajinkya Rahane Set to Captain KKR in IPL 2025
the recently concluded IPL mega auction, Ajinkya Rahane was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders at a base price of 1.5 crores and now he is being considered the frontrunner and first choice in the captain’s race.
“Yes, it is 90% confirmed that Ajinkya Rahane will be the next captain of KKR”. According to the Times of India report, news has come from sources that Kolkata has now reached a name while completing the search for its new captain and that name is not Venkatesh Iyer but Ajinkya Rahane who is appearing at the forefront among all the names.
