RCB New Captain: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), one of the most popular franchises, has announced the captaincy of Indiaโs rising batsman Rajat Patidar for the upcoming IPL 2025 (Indian Premier League) season.
RCBโs Big Decision: Rajat Patidar to Lead the Team
Notably, after Virat Kohli was once again believed to be leading the team, the Bengaluru-based franchise announced its big decision on Thursday, February 13.
However, Kohli was not interested in leading the team once again after former captain Faf du Plessis was not retained in the IPL mega auction. RCB held a press conference to put an end to all speculations about the new in-charge of the team. For the uninitiated, Kohli had led Bengaluru between 2013 and 2021 respectively.
During his long tenure with the franchise as captain. Although RCB failed to win the IPL title, 2016 turned out to be one of the best years for Virat Kohli as he led the franchise to the finals. However, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) denied him the chance to fulfil his dream of IPL glory.

Why Did RCB Choose Rajat Patidar as Captain?
Meanwhile, talking about Rajat Patidar, the youngster has gained valuable leadership experience by leading Madhya Pradesh (MP) in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy aka SMAT.
Patidar led Madhya Pradesh to the final of the premier domestic T20 cricket tournament. Moreover, he also led the team in the prestigious Vijay Hazare Trophy. Hence, after Kohli, he was considered fit to take over from du Plessis as RCB did not select any player with leadership qualities.
