Key Demands of Franchisees

Extended Mega Auction Cycle: Franchises have requested that the mega auction cycle be extended from three to five years. This change would mean the next mega auction would not occur until 2029. The rationale behind this demand is to provide stability and better develop uncapped players within the teams.

Increase in Retained Players: Currently, franchises can retain up to four players. However, there is a demand to increase this number to six. Allowing more players to be retained would help franchises maintain a stronger core team and ensure continuity.

More Right-to-Match (RTM) Cards: Franchises have also requested an increase in the number of RTM cards from three to eight. This would give teams more flexibility in retaining key players during the auction. Some teams, like Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), have suggested using RTM cards instead of the retain option.
