Retention Strategy and Budget for IPL 2025
The franchise will have the opportunity to retain one more player through the Right to Match card in the big auction to be held next month. Gill is seen as a future leader in the Indian cricket structure. An IPL source said, “Gill has decided to accept a pay cut so that the team can retain key players and form a strong team.” The Titans had roped in Gill for Rs 8 crore ahead of the 2022 season.
Gill will be the franchise’s most expensive retained player after he agreed to take a reduced salary ahead of the big auction. His salary package has not been finalized yet. According to the IPL retention guidelines issued ahead of the big auction, the team will lose Rs 18 crore from the increased amount of Rs 120 crore if the first player is retained, Rs 14 crore if the second is retained, and Rs 11 crore if the third is retained.
