IPL Teams Request Increased Player Retention
Indian Premier League (IPL) teams have requested an increase in player retention for the next three seasons. According to a Cricbuzz report, opinions vary among the 10 franchises, but most have demanded higher retention than before. Most teams want to retain 5-7 of their players. One of them even suggested eight. Some teams have suggested that no one be retained.
Upcoming Mega Auction and IPL Retention Rules
The mega auction is expected to take place by the end of this year, with the impact player rule likely to continue. Currently, teams can retain up to four players: no more than three Indian and two overseas players. Additionally, teams can use a Right to Match (RTM) card to retain a fifth player. This allows each team to keep a maximum of two foreign players.

Teams Seek Increased Auction Purse
In addition to higher player retention, teams are also requesting an increase in the IPL auction purse. Currently, each team has Rs 100 crore for the mega auction. Teams are pushing for this amount to be increased by up to 20 crores. This increase would provide more flexibility for franchises in assembling their squads for the upcoming seasons. The final decision on both retention rules and the auction purse will be closely watched by fans and stakeholders alike.
