Ireland ODI Against India: Irelandโ€™s players have been fined 10 per cent of their match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate against India in the third ODI of the ICC Womenโ€™s Championship series in Rajkot on Wednesday.

Ireland Fined for Slow Over-Rate in ODI Against India

The ICC International Match Referee Panel GS Lakshmi imposed the penalty after Ireland was found to have bowled two overs short of the target after time allowances were taken into account.

Under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Playersโ€™ Support Staff, which deals with minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for each over if they do not bowl within the time allowed by their team.

Penalty for Slow Over-Rate

Ireland captain Gabby Lewis pleaded guilty and accepted the proposed sentence, so a formal hearing was not required.

On-field umpires Kim Cotton and Akshay Totre, third umpire Virender Sharma and fourth umpire Vrinda Rathi made the allegation.

India Women Win Big Against Ireland

India Women whitewashed Ireland Women in the three-match ODI series, with the Women in Blue winning the third and final match by the biggest margin of 304 runs. Aggressive centuries from Indian womenโ€™s captain Smriti Mandhana and Prateika Rawal gave India a record win.

Smriti Mandhana took the lead by scoring the fastest ODI century by an Indian batsman. She scored a century in just 70 balls, breaking Harmanpreet Kaurโ€™s record by 17 balls. On the other hand, Prateika Rawal hit her maiden ODI century in 100 balls. She scored 154 runs off 129 balls.
