Irfan Pathan Welcomes New Rule: Ban on Players Who Withdraw from IPL, Thanks BCCI!

New Retention and Auction Rules for IPL 2025

Before the mega auction of IPL 2025, BCCI has taken some big decisions. Some new rules have been implemented for the IPL tournament. ICC has also given a special window for IPL. So this competition becomes heavy in the world. Except for Pakistani players, players from almost all countries have a chance to make money through this tournament. BCCI has further increased the remuneration of the players playing in this tournament by providing match fees to the players in the new rules. But, along with this beneficial rule, there is another rule that throws a player into this tournament. A player who breaks this rule will have to pay a heavy price. As per the new rules, no player can remain unavailable after being selected in the auction

Strict Penalty for Unavailable Players

It has often been seen that players withdraw from the tournament due to some reason or the other after the big bids in the IPL auction. Which has a big impact on the franchise. But BCCI has now tried to disguise the players through a new rule. It has been mentioned in the new rules of IPL (IPL Player Regulations 2025-27). While welcoming this rule, former player Irfan Pathan has thanked the BCCI. Meanwhile, strict action will be taken against such a player if he withdraws from IPL now. A player withdrawing from the IPL will be banned for the next two seasons, the IPL Governing Council’s new rules have said. Under the new BCCI rules, it is clear that a player who withdraws from the tournament will face a two-year ban. But it is not clear under what circumstances this action will be taken. But the purpose of this rule appears to be to curb arbitrary players.
