IPL 2025 Suspended: The 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) has been suspended for a week due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan. According to official reports, drone attacks between the two countries over the last two days have raised serious security concerns. As a result, both the IPL in India and the PSL in Pakistan have been temporarily halted.
57 matches of IPL 2025 were completed. However, the 58th match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals, scheduled for May 8, was cancelled due to a floodlight failure. Shortly after, the IPL management officially confirmed on its social media handle X (formerly Twitter) that the remaining matches have been postponed for one week.
BCCI Vice President Shares Official Statement
BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla confirmed the development. He said,
“The BCCI has decided to postpone the 18th season of IPL for a week. After that, the current situation will be reviewed in consultation with the agencies. Once things are clear, we will discuss with franchises, sponsors, and broadcasters to finalize the new schedule.”
This statement confirms that the remaining 16 matches will not be cancelled but will be rescheduled after a review of the current political and security scenario.
