Is Pat Cummins’ ₹20.50 Crore IPL Price Tag Misaligned with T20 Performance? Gillespie’s Opinion

Sydney – Former veteran bowler Jason Gillespie has expressed his opinion that he cannot believe that Australia’s captain and fast bowler Pat Cummins was signed by Hyderabad for Rs. 20.50 crore in the IPL auction

Although Cummins is an excellent bowler, he is ineffective in the T20 format. Gillespie said that this amount is too big for him.

Wasn’t Pat Cummins a high bidder? To this question, Gillespie said, ‘I think so!’ Gillespie questioned Cummins’ success in T20Is. He said, ‘Though Cummins is a great Test bowler, I don’t think he is as effective in T20s. Although he is a good bowler and a successful captain, T20 does not seem to be his best form.

My personal opinion is that Pat is a Test bowler. He excels in Test cricket. It is surprising that he received such amount in T20. This amount is too big for him.’

Mitchell Starc praised Gillespie praised left-arm fast bowler Mitchell Starc for receiving the highest amount of Rs 24.75 crore. He said, ‘Mitchell getting such a huge amount can be interpreted as the importance the team places on left-arm fast bowlers and swing bowlers. KKR made a right and good buy regarding Starc. I am happy with Mitchell as IPL is a long running league.’
