Is Rohit Sharma’s Test Career Falling Apart? Aakash Chopra’s Bold Analysis

Rohit Sharma’s Test Career: Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra analysed the Test career of Indian captain Rohit Sharma and during this, he criticized the Hitman. In his analysis, Aakash has said that the Test record of the Hitman is quite pale in comparison to the brilliant record of Virat Kohli.

Aakash Chopra Highlights Rohit’s Struggles in Tests

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Chopra also stressed Rohit’s massive drop in form during the second half of 2024, which coincided with India’s 1-3 loss in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia and the whitewash in the home series against New Zealand.

Rohit could only manage 31 runs in five innings of three Tests during the BGT series at an average of a disappointing 6.20. Reflecting on Rohit’s entire Test career, Chopra highlighted the difference in stature between Rohit and Kohli.

Rohit’s Recent Form Raises Questions

Chopra said “His Test career is not as great as Virat’s because Virat has played 123 Tests, while Rohit has played only 67 Tests. Rohit has played a bit of late, scoring 4,301 runs in 116 innings at an average of 40.57. Kohli, despite his form declining in recent years, still averages around 47.”

Chopra analysed Rohit’s performance in the last five years and said that his average in this period has been very ordinary.

The former opener said, “From January 2020 to the end of 2024, Rohit has played 35 matches, scoring 2,160 runs at an average of 36, including six centuries.

In comparison, Kohli has played 39 matches and scored at an average of 30.72 during the same period. Rohit has scored six centuries during this period and all the centuries have come in winning causes.”

Rohit Sharma Responds to Retirement Speculations

Looking at Rohit Sharma’s recent performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, people have started saying that he will no longer be seen playing for India in Tests. But in an interview during the Sydney Test, Rohit Sharma himself has said that he is not going to retire soon. He said that he will work hard and make a comeback.
