In the second innings, captain Sanju Samson sent Ravichandran Ashwin to bat in place of Rajasthan Royals opener Josh Butler, and everyone was surprised to see his decision. Proving this decision wrong, Ashwin did not even score a run in 4 balls and returned to the pavilion. However, in the post-match press conference, captain Sanju Samson explained the reason for opening with Ravichandran Ashwin.

Jos Buttler’s Finger Injury

Sanju Samson has said that Jose Butler was injured while taking the catch of Prabhsimran Singh. His fingers were hurt while taking the catch, and he was struggling with pain at the time of starting the innings. Therefore, it was decided not to send him to the opening and send R Ashwin instead.

Well, Samson has given the reason for Buttler not opening, but the question arises why Ashwin instead of Butler for the opening..? There are many big players in Rajasthan, including Sanju himself, who can open.

Prabhsimran Singh’s catch can be heavy for Rajasthan Royals, along with Buttler. According to a report in The Times of India,

“Jos Buttler has a finger injury and has received several stitches. Due to this, Butler may sit out of the match with Delhi Capitals in Guwahati on 8 April.”

This report of The Times of India is very disappointing for Rajasthan Royals and their fans.
