It is worth noting that Duminy was given this responsibility in the team in March 2023 in the support staff led by Rob Walter.

JP Duminy Steps Down from Coaching Role

Duminy was handling this responsibility after the departure of Mark Boucher from the South African team. However, now he has relieved himself of this responsibility amid Sri Lanka’s ongoing South Africa tour, citing personal reasons.

It is worth noting that before this Duminy has coached Paarl Royals in SA20 and Boland Cricket Team in domestic cricket. However, in the coming time, it is unlikely that he will again take up this responsibility in Cricket South Africa (CSA).

Previous Coaching Roles and Departure from T20 World Cup

Duminy was with the white-ball team during the 2023 ODI World Cup semi-finals last year, but he had to leave the South African camp due to personal reasons ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 co-hosted by the United States and West Indies in June this year. So far, Cricket South Africa has not given any information about Duminy’s replacement

South Africa’s Upcoming Fixtures

Currently, the South Africa cricket team is competing against the Sri Lanka cricket team in a two-match home Test series. Following this series, South Africa will host Pakistan for a three-match T20 series and an equal number of ODIs. It will be intriguing to see if the South African team acquires a new batting coach before the tour of Pakistan.
