Kamindu Mendis Shines Again in Thrilling SL vs NZ 2nd Test
Currently, there is a thrilling Test series between Sri Lanka and New Zealand. The hosts got off to a good start on the first day of the second match today. Sri Lanka won the toss and batted first. Kamindu Mendis once again shines to score a century. Apart from him, Pathum Nisanka (27), Dinesh Chandimal (30), Angelo Mathews (36), and Kusal Mendis (50) contributed runs. 25-year-old Kamindu Mendis has been performing consistently well for the past few years.
Kamindu Mendis has scored his fourth century in his seventh Test. Mendis once again caught the attention of the cricket circle by scoring a century in the Galle Test against New Zealand. Batting in the top 5 for the first time, the left-handed batsman not only looked after the beleaguered team but also managed to score a century for the fourth time. He scored his fourth century in 11 Test innings.
Mendis has scored a century or half-century in every match since his Test debut. Mendis started his Test career in 2022 from Gaule and scored 61 runs in the first match. He then got a chance to play Tests in 2024 and the youngster scored centuries in both Test innings against Bangladesh. He also scored an unbeaten 92 in the Chittagong Test. Apart from this, he played an amazing innings of 113 runs against England in the Manchester Test. 74 runs came from his bat in the Lord’s Test. Again he contributed 64 runs in the Oval Test and now scored a century in the Galle Test. Mendis has scored Test centuries against mighty teams like Bangladesh, England, and New Zealand.
