Kane Williamson Century: On the strength of Kane Williamson’s brilliant century, New Zealand has tightened its grip on England in the third Test match being played in Hamilton.

Kane Williamson Shines with a Century

New Zealand has given England a huge target of 658 runs, in response to which the English have lost two wickets after scoring 18 runs till the end of the third day’s play. Jacob Bethell is playing after scoring nine runs till stumps. Joe Root is with him who has not played a single ball yet. England’s team is still 640 runs behind the target.

Kane Williamson scored 156 runs in New Zealand’s second innings. In this inning, Williamson has faced 204 balls and hit 20 fours and a six. Williamson missed a half-century in the first innings. He had scored 44 runs, but a century came out of his bat in this innings. England Struggles in Reply

New Zealand started the third day with 136 runs for the loss of three wickets. Rachin Ravindra supported Williamson and scored 44 runs. Matthew Potts dismissed him at a total score of 235. Daryl Mitchell again supported Williamson. Both of them together made a partnership of 102 runs.

Mitchell was successful in scoring 60 runs by hitting seven fours and two sixes in 84 balls. Shoaib Bashir ended Williamson’s innings at a total score of 327. Mitchell was dismissed with a total score of 375. Glenn Phillips also returned to the pavilion after five runs. He could score only three runs.

New Zealand Builds a Strong Lead

In the end, Mitchell Santner and Tom Blundell batted brilliantly and took the team to a strong score. Santner was dismissed at a total score of 443.

He missed a half-century by one run. He played this innings with the help of three fours and five sixes in 38 balls. Tim Southee got out on two and Matt Henry got out without opening the account.

Blundell remained unbeaten on 44 runs. He hit two fours and three sixes while facing 55 balls. New Zealand’s innings was reduced to 453 runs.

In the second innings, the host team came with a lead of 204 runs and hence it gave a huge target to England.
