Karnataka Beats Haryana to Reach Vijay Hazare Trophy Final

Karnataka in Vijay Hazare Trophy Final: Devdutt Padikkal and Ravichandran Smran’s brilliant half-centuries helped Karnataka beat Haryana by five wickets on Wednesday and reach the final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Karnataka’s Solid Chase Despite Early Setback

Batting first, Haryana scored 237 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated overs. Chasing the target, Karnataka scored 238 runs in 47.2 overs for the loss of 5 wickets and won.

Karnataka got off to a bad start chasing Haryana’s target of 238 runs. Captain and highest run scorer for the team Mayank Agarwal was dismissed in the very first over. Haryana fast bowler Anshul Kamboj got Agarwal caught in front of the stumps early. However, Padikkal (86 off 113 balls) and Smran (76 off 94 balls) took charge of the team by putting on a solid 128-run partnership for the third wicket.

Padikkal and Smran Shine in a Crucial Chase

Karnataka reached the modest target in 47.2 overs with 5 wickets to spare. After Agarwal’s early dismissal, KV Aneesh (22 off 47 balls) struggled to adjust to the inconsistent bounce of the pitch. He played 14 balls and never found his rhythm. However, Padikkal and Smaran laid the foundation for the team’s victory with their sensible innings.

Haryana’s Lower-Order Fight Adds Respectability

Earlier, Karnataka bowlers, led by left-arm pacer Abhilash Shetty (4/34), kept Haryana in check. Shetty got valuable support from leg-spinner Shreyas Gopal (2/36) and pacer Prasidh Krishna (2/40).

Haryana’s innings was given some stability by Himanshu Rana (44) and captain Ankit Kumar (48), who added 70 runs for the second wicket.

However, the team struggled to build on that foundation. A last-minute 39-run partnership for the 10th wicket between Anuj Thakral and Amit Rana helped Haryana reach a respectable total of 237 for 9. With this thrilling win, Karnataka will now clash with the winner of the second semi-final between Vidarbha and Maharashtra.
