KL Rahul in Auction: KL Rahul… a batsman who has the technique of Test and also the aggression of T20. That’s why when KL Rahul’s name came up in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, the veterans started saying that money was sure to rain on Rahul. Rahul has been playing IPL since 2013. He was in Lucknow Super Giants till last year. But this time the franchise did not retain him.
KL Rahul Joins Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025 for ₹14 Crore
Rahul entered the auction and the franchises bid heavily on him. The result was that this time Rahul is going to be seen in the jersey of Delhi Capitals and for this he will get Rs 14 crore.
Kolkata and RCB fought for Rahul. Both need a captain and Rahul has captained Lucknow Super Giants apart from Punjab. Both the teams kept increasing the bid for Rahul. Delhi entered the middle with a price of 11 crores. KKR withdrew at 12 crores and Chennai entered here. Rahul was bought by Delhi in the last bid of 14 crores.

KL Rahul’s IPL Career So Far
Rahul’s IPL career started from the year 2013. Then he was a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore captained by Virat Kohli. But the next season he moved to Sunrisers Hyderabad.
After playing for Hyderabad for two years, Rahul returned to RCB. In 2017, he did not play due to a shoulder injury. Then came 2018. This year Rahul went to Punjab Kings, which was then known as Kings XI Punjab. Rahul was made the vice-captain of this team.
In the year 2020, Rahul was appointed the captain of Punjab because Ravichandran Ashwin left Punjab and joined Delhi Capitals. Rahul remained with Punjab till 2022 and then came to Lucknow.
If we look at Rahul’s performance in IPL, so far he has played a total of 132 matches in which he has scored 4683 runs at an average of 45.47 and a strike rate of 134.61. During this, four centuries and 37 half-centuries have come from his bat. Rahul’s best IPL so far has been in the year 2020. This year he scored 670 runs in 14 matches.
Rahul’s bat has scored one century and five half-centuries this season. From 2018 to 2024, Rahul has scored more than 600 runs in a season four times. Rahul missed half the season in 2023 due to injury. If we exclude this season, Rahul has scored more than 500 runs in every season since 2018.
