Kovai Laika Kings Secure Final Spot with Victory Over Tiruppur Tamizhans
In the first qualifier of the TNPL cricket tournament, held in Dindigul last night, the top two teams from the points table, Kovai Laika Kings and Tiruppur Tamizhans, faced off. Tiruppur won the toss and chose to bat first.
Strong Start from Tiruppur’s Openers
Tiruppur’s opening pair, Amith Sathwik and Dushar Raheja, set a solid foundation with a 105-run partnership for the first wicket. Amith scored 67 runs and Dushar added 55 before being dismissed. After their departure, Anirudh Balasundar contributed 21 runs before being out. Tiruppur finished their 20 overs with 200 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. Muhammad Ali remained unbeaten on 45 runs. Kovai Laika Kings Chase and Win
Kovai’s chase began with a shock as their opener, GV Vignesh was dismissed without scoring, and Sujay managed only 19 runs. Sai Sudharsan then anchored the innings with a remarkable performance, scoring 123 runs off 56 balls. Alongside him, Mukilesh contributed 48 runs off 31 balls. Their partnership helped Kovai Laika Kings reach 201 runs in 18.5 overs, with only 3 wickets lost, securing a victory by 7 wickets.
