Crucial Preparations Ahead of the 2023 World Cup

Ferguson expressed,

“Before the 2023 World Cup, the New Zealand team is set to engage in a three-match ODI series against Bangladesh. This series provides us with a golden opportunity to fine-tune our preparations in the right direction. Despite resting several key players, we approach every match as professionals, recognizing its significance. It’s a substantial series for us and presents a significant challenge.”

He went on to acknowledge the strength of the Bangladesh team on their home turf, making it a formidable opponent. With key players like Tim Southee and Matt Henry absent from this series, Lockie Ferguson is aware of the increased responsibility on his shoulders, particularly in the fast bowling department. He also emphasised the importance of Trent Boult, the team’s second-fast bowler, in maintaining their competitive edge.

Regarding his debut as New Zealand’s captain, Ferguson shared,

“It’s undoubtedly a great honor to take on the role of captaincy.”
