Lockie Ferguson Ruled Out of IPL 2025 – Big Setback for Punjab Kings Before Clash Against KKR

Lockie Ferguson injury update: The Punjab Kings have been dealt a major blow ahead of their crucial IPL 2025 match against the Kolkata Knight Riders. Their star fast bowler, Lockie Ferguson, has been ruled out of the entire season due to a serious injury.

This is a huge setback for PBKS, who are already struggling for consistency. The absence of Ferguson, who played a key role in the middle overs, could impact Punjab’s chances of making it to the playoffs.

Lockie Ferguson Injured Against SRH, Ruled Out of IPL 2025

Lockie Ferguson got injured during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He could bowl only two deliveries before limping off the field, holding his left thigh. Since then, there were questions about his availability, but now fast bowling coach James Hopes has confirmed the worst. He said,

“Lockie Ferguson is out of the tournament indefinitely and it is very unlikely for us to bring him back. I think he has hurt himself quite deeply.”

Ferguson picked up 5 wickets in just 4 matches and was one of the most reliable pacers for Punjab in the middle overs. His pace and experience will surely be missed.

Who Will Replace Ferguson in PBKS Playing XI?

With Ferguson out, the Punjab Kings will now look for replacement options. Australian fast bowler Xavier Bartlett is a strong contender and could be included in the next match. Afghanistan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai is another option who can contribute with both bat and ball. Among Indian bowlers, Vijaykumar Vyshak impressed in his only appearance and could get a longer run.

Punjab need to quickly fix their bowling combination before their key clash against Kolkata Knight Riders in Mullanpur on April 15.
