MI Set to Retain Rohit Sharma for IPL 2025, Mahela Jayawardene to Return as Head Coach

Mumbai Indian is all set to retain Rohit Sharma for the IPL 2025 edition. This will be the fourth times Mumbai Indian will retain Rohit.

According to the latest update from Republic World MI will retain Hitman and also replace their Head coach with Mahela Jayawardene. South African legend Mark Boucher was MI’s head coach in the 2024 edition but the franchise wants Mahela Jayawardene and Rohit Sharma for the next edition.

MI replaced Rohit with Hardik Pandya as their captain in the 2024 edition. However, MI’s performance was not up to the mark under Pandya’s leadership but Rohit Sharma performed brilliantly in the 2024 edition. He scored 417 runs in the 2024 edition. This is his best performance after the 2016 edition. He scored 489 runs in the 2016 edition.

MI Retains Star Captain Rohit Sharma at ₹18 Crore

Rohit Sharma is the most successful captain in IPL history after MS Dhoni. There have been several rumours that Rohit can go to the KKR side or LSG side in the 2025 edition due to issues with MI management.

However, MI retained their five-time trophy-winning captain at a price of 18cr rupees. Mahela Jayawardene and Rohit are both very successful for MI in IPL history. MI won two titles under their supervision. Rohit will play the 2025 edition as an opener and Hardik will lead the team in the 2025 edition.

Currently, Rohit is in the net practising for the upcoming test series against NZ. Rohit Sharma is one of the most dangerous batsmen in white ball cricket at present time.
