Pre-Seeding Dispute and Its Impact

The T20 World Cup was divided into four groups for the league round. There were a total of 5 teams in these four groups and two teams from each group reached the Super 8 round. But the teams have been sealed before the Super 8 round. If a team comes out on top in the league round, the assumed team will be considered the top team. Now a new controversy has erupted over this. From Group B, Australia has reached the Super 8 round by winning all the matches. So England has won the battle and secured a place in the Super 8 round.

Despite this, England has been assumed to be at the top of this group. Sports fans are not interested in this matter. Because Australia was previously considered a B2 team from Group B. The teams have therefore been divided into two groups for the Super 8 round by seeding. That means the Australian team was counted in the second position in Group B after winning all four matches.

India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Australia were drawn into one group due to pre-seeding. While the West Indies, America, England, and South Africa came in one group. However, there are now concerns that the system could sometimes end up lumping veteran teams into the same group. Stark has questioned this method. “I think the question should be asked about pre-seeding. I’m not sure I’m a fan of that.” Team India has topped Group A. Looking at it like that, India should have faced England. But Australia is already stamped B2. India will face Australia in the Super 8 round.

Australia’s Path to the Super 8

Australia has won all four matches in the series and reached the Super 8 round. Defeated Oman by 39 runs in the first match. Then in the second match England was defeated by 36 runs. In the third match, Namibia completed the challenge of 73 runs in 5.4 overs. But the match against Scotland was very close. Scotland scored 180 for 5 in 20 overs and set a target of 181 for victory. Australia completed this challenge by losing 5 wickets in 19.4 overs.
