Mohammed Shami Prepares for Return Ahead of IND vs AUS Series

Mohammed Shami, 34, started her session at around 2:30 pm on Sunday and finished at 3:50 pm after India lost to New Zealand in the first Test match of the series. Shami has been out since the ODI World Cup 2023, where he suffered an ankle injury. Before the first Test match between India and New Zealand, captain Rohit Sharma insisted on the teamโs cautious stance, saying that he does not want Shami to participate in the Test series due to swelling in his knees, which is hindering his recovery.
Rohit said, โTo be honest, it is difficult to choose him for the Australia series. He hurt him due to swelling in his knees, causing his recovery delay. He is currently in NCA with doctors and physio. We are weak Shami. Do not want to bring Australia. We are hoping that they will be cured. โ The captain highlighted the importance of Shamiโs full recovery before his return to international cricket.
Rohit said, โHe was in the process of getting fit, reaching close to 100 percent, there was swelling in his knee, causing his recovery a little delay. Therefore, he had to start again. He is now in NCA, He is working with physio and doctors in NCA. โ Rohit reiterated the priority of the team management that Shami should be fully fit before joining the national team. Rohit said, โWe want him to be 100 percent fit. It will not be the right decision for us to take weak Mohammed Shami to Australia. It is very difficult for a fast bowler because he has missed a lot of cricket and then suddenly suddenly Performing your best from it is not ideal. โ
