Mohammed Shami in Nets: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced India’s squad for the upcoming five-match T20 series against England a few days ago. The selector has also included the name of Mohammed Shami in that team.

Shami was out of Team India since the final of the ODI World Cup played in November 2023. Now Shami is ready to spread his flair in international cricket after 14 months.

Mohammed Shami Returns to Team India After 14 Months

After returning to the team, Shami bowled in full rhythm for more than an hour. However, with a heavy bandage on his left knee, Shami initially bowled slow with a short run-up under the supervision of bowling coach Morne Morkel and then increased the bowling speed with a full run-up.

There were doubts about Shami’s fitness, but he put an end to all concerns with his brilliant bowling in the nets.

Shami Faces Aggressive Batting from Dhruv Jurel

When Shami was bowling, wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel hit some aggressive shots against him. After finishing bowling practice, he had a chat with bowling coach Morne Morkel.

Everyone’s concerns grew when Shami looked a little uncomfortable while fielding, that was when he limped back to the changing room, but he returned to the field immediately later.

Shami Key for India’s Pace Attack

Shami’s inclusion in the T20 squad is an important decision as the team wants to strengthen its pace bowling attack ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy starting in Dubai and Pakistan on February 19. With Jasprit Bumrah’s injury situation still unclear, Shami’s fitness is important for India’s plans.

Shami has made it to the national team after making a comeback from domestic cricket. He also participated in the Ranji Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy and then the Vijay Hazare ODI Trophy. After the T20 series against England, Shami will be seen playing in the ODI series and then the Champions Trophy.
