Pakistan’s Readiness Under Question
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will feature eight teams, with limited time remaining before the February 19 kickoff. Seeing Pakistan’s lax approach to preparation, new questions are being raised on it every day. Giving clarification on all this, Mohsin Naqvi, while allaying the concerns raised about the country’s preparations for the upcoming Champions Trophy, said that the stadiums of Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi will be ready to host the tournament by the stipulated date.

The Champions Trophy will start on February 19. PCB President Mohsin Naqvi said on Friday that the stadiums of Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi will be ready to host the tournament by the stipulated date.
Although renovation is still going on in Karachi and Rawalpindi stadiums, the President of the Pakistan Cricket Board has assured that Pakistan is fully prepared to host the ICC tournament.
Mohsin Naqvi Addresses Concerns
Naqvi told the media at the Gaddafi Stadium, “People from across the border are doubtful that the Champions Trophy will be held outside Pakistan because the stadiums will not be ready on time but I can announce today that we are ready for the tri-series and the Champions Trophy.”
Giving further information, he said that the Gaddafi Stadium will be ready on February 7 at the time of the Prime Minister’s inauguration. Some work will remain at the Karachi and Rawalpindi stadiums which will remain till the tournament. All the necessary work will be completed by the time of the inauguration of the National Stadium on February 11.

Naqvi said, “All the facilities for the teams, officials, broadcasters and media have been improved and it is complete.” He said, “We will hold the opening ceremony of the tournament on the 16th in Lahore. The ICC captain’s conference and photoshoot are not possible due to Shahdol.”
He said that he has invited only officials of all cricket boards including India for the opening ceremony and various events of the tournament. During the organizing ceremony, various boards will take charge of hosting officials and sports ministers. Responding to questions about the chairs installed at the Gaddafi Stadium, he said they were made in China and had a 20-year warranty.
