MS Dhoni Shares Emotional Tribute to Tennis Legend Rafael Nadal’s Retirement

MS Dhoni on Rafael Nadal

Former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni shared his thoughts on the retirement of Spanish tennis legend Rafael Nadal. Nadal has been playing tennis for nearly two decades and has won 22 Grand Slam titles. He is one of the greatest tennis players in the world.

On October 10,  Nadal announced through an emotional video He said that the upcoming Davis Cup, which is scheduled for November, will be his final major tournament. Following this news, fans around the world became emotional. India’s former captain, MS Dhoni also shares their thoughts and respect for Rafael Nadal’s.

“Somehow, I have always been a No. 2 supporter. Not consciously, but it just happens. You know, I was an Andre Agassi supporter and he was No. 2 that time. Steffi Graf, she was No. 2. Then Nadal No. 2. Of course, he went on to become the World No. 1. I think his never [say] die attitude even when it’s the last point, he’s losing, he’ll still give it its best and that’s what is something that is very important – not to throw in the towel until the result is there. That’s why Nadal, for me, he never throws in the towel and gives his best whatever the situation may be,”

Dhoni is a big fan of Nadal. In a 2017 interview on a YouTube channel, he mentioned how much he is inspired by Nadal and considers him the best player in the tennis world.

Nadal has had two major competitors in his tennis career. Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. Federer, who is also regarded as one of the greatest tennis players, recently retired. Nadal won his first Grand Slam in 2005, and since then, his journey has been long and filled with victories in one Grand Slam after another.

The consistency with which Nadal has performed throughout his career will be hard for any new-generation player to match. There is no doubt that Rafael Nadal is a true legend of the game.
