MS Dhoni is one of the most famous cricketers in India and the world. Even though he retired from international cricket, he is still loved by millions of fans. He led India to win the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2011 ODI World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy. No other Indian captain has won all three ICC trophies like him.
Many fans wonder why he has not joined politics yet. Over the years, there have been rumours, but nothing has been confirmed. One reason could be that he still plays in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Though he is not officially the CSK captain, he is still the most critical player for the team.
Rajeev Shukla Talks About Dhoni and Politics
BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla recently spoke about his chances of joining politics. In an interview, he said Dhoni has the potential to become a great politician. “Dhoni can become a politician if he wants. He is very popular and will easily win if he contests elections,” Shukla said.
Shukla also shared a conversation he had with Dhoni. He asked if he planned to contest for a Lok Sabha seat. Dhoni immediately denied it, saying, “No, no, no.”
Why Dhoni Stays Away From Politics
One reason Dhoni may not enter politics is his personality. He likes to stay away from the limelight. Many of his teammates have said that he does not even carry a personal mobile phone. Even BCCI selectors had difficulty contacting him.
“He likes to stay hidden. He is not a hermit, but he takes things seriously,” Shukla added.
Dhoni’s Future in IPL
Dhoni is 43 years old and has been retained by CSK for IPL 2025. He has not yet announced his IPL retirement. So, the idea of him entering politics may still be far away.
For now, Dhoni’s fans can enjoy watching him play in the IPL and continue to support him on the cricket field!
