He shared a partnership of 121 runs with Rohit Sharma, hitting 10 boundaries, including 6 against Shaheen Afridi. Shubman Gill scored 58 runs off 52 balls, giving the team a solid start.

“As a player, my most important goal right now is to win the 2023 World Cup. I remember when India won the World Cup in 2011; I was young. It requires a mindset to read the situation and chase the target quickly.”

Shubman Gill emphasised the crucial role of a player’s mindset in stepping onto the field in different formats of cricket. He believes that adapting mentally for different formats is essential.
He said,
“As a batsman, it’s important to read the situation quickly and understand the pace of the game. The player’s mindset plays a significant role in shaping the game plan. Different mentalities are required for different formats, like transitioning from a One Day International mentality to a T20 mentality. The faster you switch, the faster your body adapts; thus, I believe being capable of making mental changes is crucial.”
