The partnership between Devon Conway and Will Young, who came to open for the Kiwi team after losing the toss and were invited to bat first, was seen flourishing, but then in the 8th over Abrar Ahmed gave Pakistan the first success by dismissing Conway.
After this, in the 9th over, Naseem Shah gave New Zealand the second blow by dismissing veteran batsman Kane Williamson.
Kane Williamson did not think of playing a shot on Naseem Shah’s ball, he stood at the crease and tried to defend. But it hit an outside edge and wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan took a good catch. Kane Williamson was able to score only one run in 2 balls in the first match of the tournament.
