Nathan Lyon took three wickets for 78 runs including 5 maidens in his spell of 30 overs on the first day of the second Test being played in Galle.
He clean-bowled Sri Lankan openers Pathum Nissanka (11) and Dimuth Karunaratne (36), who were playing his farewell match and made veteran Angelo Mathews (1) his third victim. Lyon achieved this feat as soon as he dismissed Angelo Mathews.
Australia’s veteran off-spinner Nathan Lyon completed 150 wickets in his 30th Test in Asia. This means his average was 30 balls per wicket. Apart from Nathan Lyon, late Australian cricketer Shane Warne is in second place in terms of taking the most wickets on Asian soil.
