Team India Starts with Defeat in Womenโ€™s T20 World Cup

Team India has started with a defeat in the ICC Womenโ€™s T20 World Cup 2024 tournament. Team India has to accept defeat against New Zealand. New Zealand are off to a winning start with this one. New Zealand challenged India to 161 runs for victory. But Team India could not even play full 20 overs. Team India was all out for 102 runs. New Zealand thus won the match by 58 runs.

Indian Batting Struggles

Team Indiaโ€™s batsmen failed miserably against New Zealand. No batsman of Team India could score more than 15 runs. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur scored 15 runs. Deepti Sharma and Jemimah Rodrigues both scored 13 runs each. Smriti Mandhana and Richa Ghosh both contributed 12 runs each. Other batsmen were disappointed. All four could not even reach double figures. Renuka Singh left as soon as she came. Asha Shobhana returned unbeaten on 6 runs. Rosemary Mair was the highest wicket-taker for New Zealand with 4 wickets. While Lee Tahuhu took 3 wickets. Eden Carson showed the two off the field. Amelia Kerr took one wicket and supported the others well.
