New Zealand Dominates Bangladesh Despite Saumya Sarkar’s Heroic 169-Run Innings

In the second ODI at Nelson, New Zealand secured a seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh, taking a 2-0 lead in the three-match series despite centuries from Henry Nicholls (95) and Will Young (89).

New Zealand’s successful chase of 296 for three in 46.2 overs saw Soumya Sarkar’s exceptional 169 runs for Bangladesh go in vain. Sarkar received the Man of the Match award.

Will Young, with 89 off 94 balls, and Henry Nicholls, scoring 95 off 99 balls, contributed significantly for New Zealand. Captain Tom Latham (34 not out) and Tom Blundell (24 not out) sealed the victory with 22 balls remaining.

Soumya Sarkar’s valiant 169 off 151 balls, accompanied by Mushkikur Rahim’s 45, laid the groundwork for Bangladesh’s total of 291 all out in 49.5 overs.

Jacob Duffy and William O’Rourke claimed three wickets each for New Zealand. The third match of the series is set for Saturday.
