A Pakistani journalist shared a photo of Kane Williamson being dismissed on ‘X’. In it, he wrote, that this happens when we start valuing money over national duty. (Williamson out for 1 run) The series against Pakistan was a golden opportunity for New Zealand to prepare for the Twenty20 World Cup, but many of the big players continued to play in the IPL. Now look they are getting out of the World Cup.

Group C Dynamics and New Zealand’s Diminishing Chances

West Indies and New Zealand are in Group C. West Indies became the first team to qualify for Super-8 from this group. They won 3 out of 3 matches. New Zealand, on the other hand, have lost both of their two matches. Afghanistan has claimed the Super-8 spot with four points after winning both two matches. If New Zealand wins the remaining two matches and Afghanistan loses the remaining two matches, the two teams will be tied at 4-4. But, Rashid Khan’s team is more likely to qualify for the Super-8 as they are dominant in terms of net return. Afghanistan is currently in the match and it is expected that they will confirm their ticket to Super-8 with an easy win. So the Kiwi team’s challenge in the tournament has ended.
